What does it mean when you say, “Fermented”?
Fermentation is a great thing as well as why you taste the flavor and quality in our product. After we blend our ingredients to make a mash, we cover it with a salt brine, which is essentially a protective barrier from oxygen allowing outside bacteria to come in. We allow these ingredients to sit or ferment with the brine for a month and during this process the good bacteria, called Lactobacillus, breaks down the natural food components like sugar, which enhances the flavor, tames the heat and extends the shelf life - meaning the fermentation process stabilizes the pH, so it’s harder for bad bacteria to grow.
Should I refrigerate Burke’s Hot Sauce?
Burke’s Hot Sauce can be stored in your pantry until opening. You will need to refrigerate once the bottle has been opened to extend the shelf life of your hot sauce.
Does Burke’s Hot Sauce expire?
Burke’s Hot Sauce uses a special fermentation process that uses low acidity and pH levels that stabilizes the sauce from easily growing bacteria. Burke’s Hot Sauce is best if consumed within 1 year.

Yes, Burke’s Hot Sauce is gluten free, fat free, sugar free and vegan. We use all natural ingredients and list them on our bottles.
